Maggie Grace (born Margaret Grace Denig November 21, 1983) is an American actress who is best recognized for her performances in the roles of Shannon Rutherford on the ABC television show Lost as well as Kim Mills in the Taken trilogy. Maggie Grace, originally from Worthington from Ohio dropped out of high school, and relocating to Los Angeles after her divorced parents. She landed her debut role in the film, Rachel's Room's lead character in 2001, despite having a difficult time with finances. In 2002 she was nominated for a Young Artist Award with her role as 15-year old murder victim Martha Moxley. Grace Rutherford, the role she played in Lost from 2004 to 2005 was nominated for an Screen Actors Guild Award. In the wake of several successful commercial films such as World Trade Center in 2006 she gained greater recognition for her role as Rachel Dawes (the superhero) in The Dark Knight (2007). The year 2009 was the time she received a nomination as the best supporting Actress at the Oscar Awards for her performance of a single mom in Crazy Heart. Following that, she went on to appear in comedy films along with dramas, such as Nanny McPhee And The Big Bang (2010) Hysteria (2011), and Will Not Back Down (12). Apart from her character as a Secret Service agent, she has also appeared in White House Down (2013) as well as Frank (2014). Her most recent roles include as the main character of the film The Kindergarten Teacher (2018). In 2021 Gyllenhaal made her writing and directed debut in the psychological drama The Lost Daughter for which she won the Venice International Film Festival's Best Screenplay Award and was nominated to win the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.
